I use apple chips when I smoke Salmon. Next time I see a grape vineyard around here that has lived out it's life and got pushed up in a big pile with a dozer, I'm gonna grab me some of those vines and try them in the BBQ/smoker.

Funny this thread comes up as soon as I log in tonight. I spent the last two days building a UDS (ugly drum smoker) from a free, clean, 55 gallon drum.
