Solids on one daily driver/ beater 383 A body for 4 years, 2 street strip cars with motor plates, 1 Jeep Cj-5 with a 360, solid mounts for 10+ years, 0 issues. I love 'em.
I haven't seen any break a block. A buddy of mine has a 416 on E85 putting about 550 out at the flywheel (and very torquey) and his block had one ear broken from being dropped. When I built it for him I was worried it wouldn't hold at that power level with the broken ear but he's been running the snot out of it for nearly 3 yrs. now and it's still holding.
I should add that although I have had no issues with the mounts or block, you will have to check header bolts about once a year or so. Ever since I switched to solid mounts my header bolts wiggle loose about once a year....not a big deal though, I call it standard maintenance (takes 2 minutes to fix).
1 thing to mention is you need to bolt the ears separately from the mounting brackets to the block. If you try to run 1 bolt through the mounting holes that goes through the ears...... YES you more than likely will break off one of the ears on the block.
So if there are 3 or 4 ears on the block you need to use separate Nut Bolts to mount the bracket to the block. DO NOT USE 1 LONG BOLT. When tightening the long bolts you will put stress on the ears and more than likely at some point the ears will snap off.
Stock brackets you almost have to use separate hardware. Custom brackets etc is where someone could make a mistake.
Guy at the engine dyno one time caught the guy setting up my engine doing this. He told him don't ever do that cause you risk the chance of breaking off the ears on the block.
