How often or how many passes down the track should I be checking valve lash? I have 4, 1/4 mile passes and 6, 1/8 mile passes since the valves were checked on the dyno. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Every cam..Ever engine is gong to be different..and every person is going to check it is different...

If the engine/cam is new...I would check it after a couple of races to see if anything has moved...I would really look for adjusters backing off...

After checking things regularly ...you will get a feel for how often you need to check the lash...

I have gone a full season and never had to adjust the valves..I checked them..but nothing changed...but i would still take the valve covers all and look for anything loose.

you should check them AFTER EVERY RACE but you will adjust them as you check them anyway. so adjust them after every race, you'll have the wrenches and feeler gauges in your hand so why not. as your motor settles in there will be fewer and fewer each time to mess with
.

I made 6 more passes to get licensed on Saturday so I for sure need to now.I attempted to pull the valve cover last week. Since the 426 Legend heads are studed for the cover, it requires the engine to be raised in order to clear the shock tower that was modified to prevent this issue. Raised port heads in A bodies sure are fun.
