I picked up a 2012 5.7 Hemi that ate a camshaft. Its out of a truck and has MDS and VVT. I'm putting a carb on the thing. So I know I need to lock out the VVT and delete the MDS. I got it with a set of the block off plugs for the MDS.

1. For camshafts, the car its going in is just a cruiser. So stock camshaft would be fine unless there would be a better one that would work with the VVT being locked out. If the stock one is fine, do I need to find a stock camshaft with VVT but non MDS and use the stock VVT style timing set and use a VVT phaser lock or is there a better way?
VVT Phaser Lock for Dodge Hemi For use in Chrysler 5.7, 6.2 & 6.4

2. I was looking for a Dual plane Carbureted intake manifold. The only one I found is by OCPerformance anyone have experience with them? Or should I just run the single plane Holley?
OCPerformance Parts, LLC. - The 1st single 4bbl Gen 3 Hemi Dual Plane!

3. For controlling spark. The Holley 6-Hemi Controller only works with the pre-2008 engine. I could change the reluctor out for the early one to use the Holley 6. MMX will work with either reluctor just need to select what you have when you purchase. Looks like FAST made an ignition controller also but Its out of stock on their site and I'm having difficulty figuring out what reluctor it works with. Anyone have experience with any of these? Is there another option?

Thanks.

I have done this very thing. 2011 5.7. Removed crank and installed early tone ring. Installed a 6.4 cam. Used the prefix CASCAR intake. I did not lock out the phaser. I can't be positive, but, I think the timing may have been "moving around".
It did not seem to have the same oomph as the previous early 5.7 with Eagle heads and 6.1 cam. I would look at a cam that actually requires to be locked to use with the carb. The 6.4 cam with injection and VVT function is an animal.
