Spare tire well

I always hear about someone welding in a spare tire well,but I was thinking about making it deeper to handle a possible 70 series tire. Has anyone ever done this before? Thanks

The problem on A bodies is the fuel tank is under there.

Put a donut spare in there. You only need it to get home or a tire shop if on a trip
