Hey guys I'm looking into getting new spark plugs soon and have been wondering if I should try something different. It's a 318 and I've only ever used Denso Iridium plugs in it before, they also foul very quick. (Engine burns a good bit of oil) Is there a difference besides price in going down from iridium to copper plugs? What do you recommend or buy for your old cars?

I’ve had hood luck with ngk
I had a 327 chev that burnt massive amounts of oil
U used to be able to get these plug extenders that reduced fowling. Try a heat range hotter and go from there

I use NGK BKR6E in my 10.2/1 340, and my 02 Ram. Seem to be a good over all heat range for my junk...

Copper conducts electricity better. I'd use RN12YC Champion. Or... RC12YC (just a smaller socket, same plug)

Denso iridium plugs are a great plug if you are driving a Toyota. Seriously. But for your 318 Mopar, are not the correct plugs to use, plus way overpriced.

Get yourself some NGK's or Autolites. With the extra money, take your favorite one out to dinner. :)

Couple of comments.
- Copper is used in the centre electrode in a spark plug because of it's better heat conduction characteristics, not because it conducts electricity better.
- NGK was ridiculed by companies like Champion when NGK introduced the copper electrode. Now they all use it...including Champion.
- Iridium plugs can be a benefit in a performance engine, but in an oil burner. I would try NGK plugs with a '5' heat range.

Agreed, I did a lot of research on plugs. A mopar service bullitem years ago instructed to replace the plugs that are equivalent of ngk bkr5e with bkr6e to reduce the occurrence of detonation
