i've got a 64 dart with a 77 A999 trans and of course the speedo cable from the dart doesn't mate with the later tranny...i saw that brewer's has an adapter that looks like it would work but before i spend what little money i have i wanted to ask,

has anyone used this adaptor with success?

is there another solution to my problem that i might be able to find in the junkyard?

right now the hole is plugged with the original (;ater) fitting that came with the tranny but it has a 3" pigtail where the speedo cable was cut and it is leaking out the cable. also it would be nice to tell how fast i'm going.

this is the adaptor that brewers has....the one in my tranny is an orange plastic deal.

I'm pretty sure that the adapter that you are looking at is the same that's already in your tranny. My guess is that the tranny end of your cable has a small nut on the end of it and the 77 trans takes the big nut. You could use a complete cable out of a 66 or 67. The 66 -67 cable is somewhat of an odd ball because the tranny end has a big nut and the speedo end has a small nut. In 68 the speedo end changed to plastic and it snaps into the speedo. If you go to Brewers website and look at the very first cable for a 66,67 b-body you will see that they note that you can use this cable on 62 & 65 b-bodies with 66 and up trannys.

I hope this helps

That picture shows what the 77 trans has, I went with the newer tranny and just changed to a newer speed o meter cable. Brewers has them.

thanks guys, thats the information i needed! you all are the greatest!
