Hey all.
After I found a replacement non-rally instrument cluster outer shell for my duster and swapped my instruments into it, the speedometer wouldn't read right. The needle bounces back and forth and doesn't stay consistant with the speed I'm going. Is ther a simple fix for this.. like the cable not fully seated in the back or something loose? Or am I hosed?

A lot of the problems associated with speedometers are usually due to cables being dirty, bent, or broken. The cable should be removed and both the cable and housing should be thoroughly cleaned and the cable greased and reinstalled. Check to make sure the housing is good and that both ends are connected well. If that doesn`t solve the problem, try the HELP section at your local auto parts store, they should have a new cut to length cable. HTH.

Longgone, just a add on...check also to see... and I hope this isn't your problem. Sometimes the "clusters" speedo housing gets rounded inside also if the cable is worn. So while your checking the cable and cables housing, check to ensure the female connector is square before running out to get a new cable if thats required. NOTE: Make sure the plastic connecter hook isn't broken off that holds the cable housing to the speedo housing.
