I took the speedometer gear out of the transmission a while back and I can't get the speedo to work after installing it back. (I removed the transmission to install the motor) I know the speedo works because I turned the cable by hand and the odometer moved. So it's in the trans housing that is not working.

If you look in the pics it seems that the tip of the yellow speedo gear needs to slide on some type of dowel in order to hold it in place. Have I lost the dowel or is there even the need of one? As you can tell I have never took one of these out before.

The housing rolates ecentricly to accomodate different diameter /tooth count drive gears. Are you sure the gear is engaged when positioned ?

I just got back in from the garage. I reinstalled the gear and housing but now I cant turn the gear freely like I could earlier today before I took it out. I think I got it.
