speedometer gear

any trick to changing the speedometer gear in a 904?
looks pretty straightforward,just thought i'd ask.

Only trick I know is get the housing indexed right for the gear your using.

HI AL, i was told here that some but no much,just jack the left side up

Snake's right. Jack the left side of the car up and nearly all the fluid will run to the other side of the trans. so you'll only lose a few drops. Keep a drain pan handy though just in case someone overfilled it or you don't get it jacked up high enough

Also helps to jack the rear left up higher,forcing the fluid forward.
