Will I need to replace the slant 6 shackles on my 70 dart when I put in the XHD leaf springs and the 8 3/4 axle?

No. What you have should work just fine. May need U bolts though.

May have to open up the front spring hanger too
Straight bolt in, even using the 2 1/2" U bolts and shock plates around the as yet unreplaced 7 1/4 in my Feather. Putting an 8 3/4 on them amounts to a simple shock plate and 3" U bolt change.
Expect the back end to come up a bunch. I did notice, even with the car leveled out at the rocker panels the front segment was angled slightly down from the front hanger, not level like the books say it should be. As they say, your results may very.
Just the other day a friend suggested having them de-arched to get the front segment level, but after years of the back bumper dragging the ground I'm reluctant to modify them. Certainly not going to happen until after the 8 3/4 is in, the front end is worked over, and the 340 takes the place of the slant.
