Would a spun cam bearing on 440 cause no oil pressure.
Sorry about the details its on my brothers 440 we thought it might have been the oil pump or shaft we replaced that and had no luck still no oil pressure.I don't think so. A spun bearing would prevent oil to and from the port, the oil pressure is read from a spot at the back of the block on the chine wall next to the distributor.
A broken seized pump or intermediate shaft could be the problem or a blocked pick up.
We disconnected the line and hooked a pressure gauge direct to the block. With the car running there is no pressure to the gauge not even a flutter. When the car is running it makes a terrible and consistant clanging sound but its hard to tell where its coming from. My brother said that he did not notice any power loss when it occured at half track but on his way back to the pits he noticed it clanging and put it on the trailer right away. So after he got it home we tried the pressure gauge on the block and changed the oil pump still no pressure. The motor is out of the car now cause he had plans for a new setup anyways but we were just wondering if was an easy fix then it would go in another car.How are you checking the pressure? Is the car running? If so is it making any noises? Is the pressure sensor bad if it's electronic? Is the line plugged if it's mechanical?
