Anybody running two different diameter wheels on their A? For example, 16"s front 17s rear, or similar?

I did 14s/15s on my Demon clone years ago. I think it works. Just curious how many guys out there are running a mismatched setup.

THisis the only A body i've seen where i've liked a stagger. One of the reasons I chose to post this picture is it perfectly illustrates the reason for staggering wheels. It is to keep the sidewall profile the same of close to the front.

Not an A body, but you get the idea.

18" in the rear, 17" in the front.

I got a great deal on some 10x16 slicks, so i bought new 16" wheels to use them. I wanted the gray tt2, but the polished were on sale. I bought 15s for the front, lots better tire selections in the 15s.
I personally wouldnt go bigger than seventeens, and even the 17s need a decent sidewall height to look right.

Useless trivia but the AAR Cuda and T/A Challengers were the first North American made car to come with different width tires front (E60) and rear (G60).

Lately, I've seen a lot of drag racers put 15's on the back and 17's on the front. Not sure why that's popular these days. Tire availability maybe?

Fifteens on the back, cause the great majority of drag tires are that size. Tall sidewall height helps a drag tire to hook,
a 15 will work much better than a short sidewall 20. I think the majority of the 17 use on the front is to clear modern big brake setups.

That makes sense. I hadn't thought about it from the a 'brake-clearing' standpoint (w/ 17's on front). I figured it was just the new fad.

Rubber weighs more than aluminum .
Maximize wheel size and minimize the amount of rubber for a given diameter setup .

Thank you. Yeah, I agree with the 70-73 body style. This is a 70 model with a built 455 from a 73 Trans Am. Very quick. Not a 4 speed, but I installed a Hurst Dual Gate (His &Hers) shifter so I could have a little fun.

When I was in grade school (early 70s) I went to a daytime summer camp at the local junior high . One of the teachers drove a dark green Formula 400 R.A Firebird ... I would drool on it every day !
Your choice of color and wheels are really tastefull .

I don't think Hurst came out with the H/H until mid-late 70's. And, to my knowledge, it was not a dealer installed option. It was a "day 2" upgrade you could find at a speed shop. I could be wrong though.
