starters keep getting to hot need help

-
awesome sunny sping day here finally 70"s beat -10 for 72 days , so yesterday I had the starter issue , when cool it spun free like a new car , when at 170 it wouldn't crank
rwa rwa. So grand daughter went home at 11:00 , I went out to piddle for a bit , thought id take the old starter out . I jacked the car up got it on stands got my tools ,laid out my card board , got turning the lower bolt with all power shut down of course , and looked and my positive wire head was real close to my ignition wire , but not touching , and no hot wires , so I turned the possative wire to get as far apart without it hitting my manifold .

I fired the car up and what a nice problem to have , it takes about 10 minutes idling to get it up to 170 , shut it down , turned the key and it spun like it should and fired .

let it idle 5 minutes , turned it off no run on , turned it back over vroom , repeated 8 times , fired imidiatley every time . So I don't know what to think ,but it had to be robbing my power in a cross fire , or it was just a long week and I cant explain . like I said I had no hot wires or didn't drain any battery last night , But a few tweeks tommoro
going to electric temp guage , because the intake I have does not have room or a depth
for my mechanical guage temp reader/sender

now I need a 64 , 65 , 66 on the floor automatic shifter mechagnism ,for a barracuda , mine is beat and sloppy .

so if an1 has 1 that they can ship overnight ,pm me asap and send me a price and paypal and phone #and if I like the price I will call asap to get it overnighted or 2 day and I can detail wed. and test Thursday and be gone Friday for a 34th anniversary of buying the car and getting 1 more thing off my bucket list Barracuda has had its last rebild and its over 400 hp with a solid TSI tranny and I can get the other 1 sold with a new used motor and trans in it and make my grand daughters dream come thru for the week end.

we can take her red 1 to the home town show sunday and the midgets start at our track on saterday night thanks for all your opinions and technical advise

come get some of that the little pink 1 is mine this weekend lol

I commend you on breaking up your text, BRAVO.

Much easier to read! Nice stash of fish! Does the object in the last pic know about this??? :)

Cool that the issue seems to be resolved. The hotter the wire gets, the more resistance it will have. If it was close to the exhaust and you got more air gap, that could and may have helped.

That postiive wire could have been arcing instead of turning the engine over, and I sounds like you got it fixed now.
