I did a trunk relocation for the battery(71 Duster) with the Ford solenoid, i have one wire that went to the original relay which i believe is a ground the problem is that it will start in gear but i know that the neutral switch is good.

Could this single wire not being connected be the problem or is it something else?
Is there a way i could wire it so it only starts in neutral and park?

This car was originally a standard shift so i just unplugged the wire and plugged on one for an auto. for the 3 prong neutral switch.

Has to be a wiring glitch with the Ford solenoid. You shouldn't need it.
I ran the 2 wires of the battery. One to ground and the other up to the
main original battery pos. wire.

One of the wires the one with the little plastic tab on it is the neutral safety switch. With it's connected your car won't start in gear.

I think more information is needed here, such as.... how do you have the Ford relay hooked up? On a Mopar the neutral safety wire is simply the ground path in series with the coil of the relay.
