Steering collar exchange Nerves!

Well I’ve got the replacement for the floor shift steering column Is it one of those jobs where the little springs and ball bearings and things jump out all over the place during changeover?! Really want to be careful with steering and key lock mechanism is it doable to eliminate the steering / key / shifter lock items altogether ? Also haven’t found any step by step helps for the replacements etc. pretty good at things but never done this one before. I’ll start in about a week or two. Tks

AbodyJoe had a pretty good breakdown of getting the column apart so far as ignition switch, but that is 70/ later
