Try to buy a later model K with spool type/fail safe motor supports.

as for the steering column, good luck. Some have resorted to converting their column shift collar and bell to manual shift type. Happy moparing

Might want to contact a member here...Tony Fields. If I remember right he posted some pictures of how he got rid of the steering column indicator/shifter handle.....
