Steering column trouble.

I changed the turn signal switch in my 67 Dart 270 and managed to get the column put back together but now the gear indicator is off a little and its like the upper portion of the collar is moving slightly. Any tips as to what my problem may be? I can give more information if its needed.

Same thing happened to me when I dropped my column to remove speedo. Was told that I was going to have to make adjustments to the shift linkage. Haven't done it yet as I also need to replace shift shaft seal so I'm waiting to do it all at one time.
