While waiting for the machine shop to even look at my 65 225, I found a 73 engine with 50k original miles for $300. I've got the engine on the stand and looks to be legit. Everything inside looks clean. I already had my 65 cam reground by Oregon Cams to a 2106. Plan to shave the head and bolt on the 2 barrel intake on the new engine but wondering if it's worth swapping cams for the new regrind. I remember reading somewhere that the cam lift increased a bit in 71 so not sure it would be a noticeable change.

Better driveability and better gas mileage. If you're gonna increase compression the extra lift would help.

Are you planning on putting the '73 engine in place where the '65 was? Crankshafts were changed between '67 and '68.

Correct. if using the 65 auto trans and 73 engine, you need a crank adapter bushing. I have them available. If you need one send a message.
