I want to put a Summit 50052 cam in a decent 318 la motor I just picked up, it currently has 675 heads are the stock springs ok with that cam? They are tan in color.
Its going into a Duster i just picked up as well, I'm not looking for anything radical, just a peppy grocery getter for now.
Thanks

I’d order new springs. The OEM units are probably tired.

Are the Hughes springs that are often mentioned a good choice for that?
I'm seeing a Comp XE 256 kit that has been mentioned here as well, comes with everything.

Rotators?
They look like stock heads with single springs and smaller valves?

Valve rotators.

They take the place of the exhaust retainers on late model engines. If you have them, you'll need to put on standard retainers and keepers, and probably replace the springs as well anyway- they're slightly shorter for the rotators.

What Hughes valve springs? They offer a lot of different valve springs!

Double check to see if the cylinder head needs to have work done on it to all the springs to be installed with or without machine work done to the heads.

If your just looking for the lumpy idle keep the springs.

If you want it to run. Pick the cam for the compression. Then do the heads for the cam. Pick the intake for your combo and the carb for your Cu.In..

I wouldn't do a stock cam change without changing springs. Think about how many oscillations the old springs have had. Also, that particular cam is not in stock at Summit. It has an estimated ship date of August 1st. The Comp 901 is a good spring choice for most any hydraulic under .500 lift. Cheap, simple and effective.
