I meant having to work a bolt action, and or dealing with side ejections across your face. Lefty with a standard flintlock is generally a bad situation. Flash guard helps a little.

Oh, I've never shot a bolt action...

I've only shot a few guns...

My friend in high school's dad took us to a shooting range once with his pistol... He told us not to worry about hitting the bullseye, just hitting the target at that range was good... His dad hit 7 out of 14 shots, where I hit what I thought was 12 out of 14 shots... A few years later I was looking at my target and found two holes that were hit twice, which put me at 14 out of 14 hits...

I considered joining the rifle team in college, but was too busy taking 22 to 24 credit hours a semester so I could get out as soon as possible... 18 hours was considered full time, but it cost the same to take 24 credit hours as a full time student... I got out in 4 years, but there were many that took 5 or more to complete the requirements... Since we were paying for it ourselves with no assistance, I wanted to get out asap...

It wasn't easy, that's why it bugs me when people try to call themselves an engineer when they didn't actually take the classes and pass them... There were many at my college that started out in engineering and had to drop out and change majors because it was too hard for them... We started out with over 250 in our class and the summer that I graduated, there were only 33 people graduating, 3 of which were architects... I had to go three summers to graduate in 4 years....

My second year, the guy in the dorm room next to me who was a business major started drinking every day by 8 PM while I was usually up until 2 AM studying... I called him a "blow off business major"...

You had to EARN your engineering degree, they weren't given away...

There was only one guy that made straight A's in engineering at our school in 110 years since it opened... Not only did he do that, he did the 5 year program in 3 1/2 years... After he graduated, he got his masters, started teaching at our school, worked for GM, and was going for his doctorate degree... His classes were tough, many people said that he was there to make sure that nobody else got straight A's so he could stay the only one that did... He was an expert in robotics and programmed the CAD system at our school himself... He was very smart, probably a genius...

That's impressive!
Funny thing is I went to the introductory session for the college pistol team, and I too decided right away it was too big of a commitment.
I wasn't as good of a student as you were, but also would not have finished in four years without summertime night classes. I think the schools that make it a five year degree with a mandatory internship are taking a better approach.

"found two holes that were hit twice" That was Geo. Patton's claim at the Olympics but he couldn't prove it.

I'm jealous... I thought that I had it good for 5 days off... I don't have to go back to work till next Wednesday... I thought that was good.... :BangHead:
My shop,I always take my two weeks off end of December and beginning of January.

Stator showed up!
That was quick. Well truth is I could have driven there and back in less than two hours, but shipping was cheaper.
Supposedly old stock, made in Canada. It's probably good as anything. :poke::canada:

I ordered a new handle for my kerosene heater that was missing one on Wednesday and they told me that they were out of stock and could take a couple weeks to come...

They showed up today, in two days!!!

Here's where I got my parts:

Allparts Equipment Inc

@dukeboy_318

Do not use the place the Remington recommends on their site:

eReplacementParts.com

They took one week to send the parts, and the fuel filters were the wrong ones... The bar code on the outside of the bag said that they were the -0100 part, when the label attached to the filter said that it was the -0200 part and it was too long... Then they "refunded" me the filters vs exchange, where I would have to pay shipping again and did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling that they were going to inspect the part and make sure that it was the right one... If I ordered it again, I was concerned that they would send the same wrong part again, so I tried the other source and they have shipped my parts in two days when they said that one was not in stock and would have to be shipped from the supplier...

Allparts is the place to get your kerosene heater parts from in my opinion... :thumbsup:

@krazykuda
Is that electrical repair place near you walk in service only?
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the two older roundback alternators. Both have open rotors.

I'm not sure if they do mail order or not, I always walk in since it's about 5 miles from my house... The one guy there recognized our alternator as an old Chrysler "round back"... He used to own his own alternator shop in the old days, but the larger corps were too much to compete with and he had to close it...

Here's the link to their web site, try contacting them to see... They make their own parts in house and can upgrade to higher amperage if you want...

P&G Keene Electrical Rebuilders LLC

If you need some parts and they will sell them separate, I can pick them up and mail them to you...

I have a cold right now and am suffering with head congestion and coughing... I could use some theraflu right now...

I'm going to make a batch of my beef stew in a little bit with lots of garlic, tumeric, and ginger which is good for boosting your immune system...

I edited my post with this while you were reading it and not sure if you saw my added comment on:
