Stop in for a cup of coffee

I installed a few back in the mid 90’s as an option in aftermarket alarm systems. They were just a “cool factor” option IMO out here. Although it would come in handy during the summer out here to get the car cooled off before getting in. Now it seems to be standard equipment.

Off to work i go... just me today so it’s gonna be a huge waste of time but oh well
Our place is closed. Wasnt supposed to be a holiday, but I think hey figured (correctly) it would not be very productive...
So what makes today different from any other day?

The 1968 Gun control Act, the 1934 National Firearm Act.

Until May 1968, you could buy a FA at Sears... then post 68, you just had to register it by May 1986.
As long as you have a clean background and pay 200 bucks to the ATF, you can still buy an FA... just need some $$$$ to buy the actual weapon. Cheapest entry in it will be a Mac-10, at nearly $8,000

I thought you had to have the FFA license and what not to be able to own a FA. I've never looked into it in depth, but its something I've wanted. I've also been looking for a real M203, to mate up with my wifes gun. Thats what she carried, I passed on one at the gun show and havent seen one since.. DOH!!!

Also how come you cant just buy the parts, I've seen them sold online and then register it as a FA

First:

The FFL (not ffa) you allude to is strictly for selling any gun for a business or manufacturer. Don’t need it to own a FA, nor are all FFLs what they call Class 3 FFLs, most aren’t. You yourself can buy one, just pay the 200 dollar tax stamp to the ATF and wait about a year for the background check to go through.

As to the M203, that can be found. But it’s a 5 dollar federal tax stamp and registration as an other than destructive Device.

The reason you can’t legall buy the part and then register a new FA is because the Hughes amendment of the 1968 gun control act put a closing date of May 1986 on registerations. Every FA had to be registered by that date. Anything not, became illegal.

Now there is a manufacturer exception to that IF you have the class 6 I believe it is, FFL. But to get that, it’s some 5000 bucks a year plus you have to have a minimum sales requirement.

Yesterday at the garage was not very productive. Spent most of the time there changing lightbulbs  Well no one else is going to do it.
Then went to remove the chinesium double alternator pulley and its got a non-standard diameter.:BangHead:
The landlord has a partial general puller set in my garage but could make anything work. :BangHead:
Called it quite and went home. Shreded leaves in my neighbors yard and had dinner with them :)
I got to go cover the shredder

Got a funeral to go too today. Dang I hate funerals

TMM You seem to be gettin a reputation 'round here. LOL
Duely noted. It started when I shared a bottle of Revel Stoke at Farmington a few years back. Well it actually started when I turned 18. LOL

LOL but that's not what they'll want to see we they background check!

This stuff is more like puzzlemaster anyway. I've said it before, I'll say it again, there's a lot better and more experienced electronics and wireing guys here. I've just gotten pretty good at unravelling spigetti.
