Stop in for a cup of coffee

Funny how when you first began working on this car I said “pull the engine and tear it down to make sure everything is right before you try to make it run”.

But you ignored me, intent on doing a “roadkill” just rig and fire it up.

How’s that working out for you?

To be honest, that is exactly what i did with the fargo,i did get lucky. But the rest of the jiggery pokery is what is getting me now.

Warm enough to begin under the hood work. Radiator and fan going in with a couple other things. Have to take off intake and remove some really sloppy paint. Can't go anywhere so if weather cooperates I can get a lot done. On to the interior next and remove dash gauges and dash pad.

Yeah, I learned the hard way a long time ago. Easier to pull it first and tear it down for the price of a gasket set than chase unknown demons later. Once I started doing the tear down first, I found dozens of examples of messed up crap that would have bitten me in the *** later but were simple to fix during the tear down.

Did the roadkill thing. Bare minimum to get it running.
Oh yeah. If I had to do it again though, I think I’d do it the same way. Learned a lot in the process even though it’s delayed things. Ultimately that’s what my whole goal was in this.

I did rip front end apart to bits and pieces, rear end will get the same once i get it fitted to the truck.
If i can run it an hour or so without issue, i will then pull transmission and clean, reseal and dress the flywheel.
If i am not happy with it, the 318 for the dart will find a new home.

Well, I'm off work. In other words I've moved from the dining room to the back bedroom lol! But NOW I have a beer in hand!

Similarly if this poly falls thru and is junk, the 408 may come out of my w200, a 12 valve Cummins which I have laying here may go in its place and the 408 into the Polara.

So how you liking working from home?

I'm bored, field work is just about impossible to do "from home". Been doing since Wednesday, hope it's over soon. BTW I drive a company truck, won't drive it after any beer. Can be called upon at any time to fix something but after working hours can say no, had a beer. Can't say that during working hours lol!

Wife has been talking about corona, people in general, and so forth. I just figured out how to shut her up!

noise cancelling to boot!!

But but but... no I hear ya.

I got scolded for being too efficient the last two days. They couldn’t believe how much I got done from home Tuesday and Wednesday. I told them it was because I didn’t have a bunch of nosey engineers interrupting me every 5 minutes with stupid ideas like putting a 3/4 inch diameter bolt in a 1/8th inch thick piece of aluminum...
