Guess you could of drove the back roads if you really wanted to go.

I prefer to avoid major highways. I like to see small town America. Drives my wife nuts but we won't be on the interstates much
Ray, TJ, and Chris....went yesterday and looked at the buddies 69 Dodge Dart Swinger Black/Blue an all original car with documented 40K miles, 340 4 speed.
He wants to touch up the engine bay and clean it up.
I told him to keep it in the survivor mode and just clean it up. Told him to run it like that for a couple years, then decide if he wants to repaint it, etc..
It looks really good for a 50 year old car...no rust, solid.

That guy has another car he is parting want the ad? Got that, a fender emblem and a plate light assy $120 shipped. Don't think he knows what he has asked for offers.

That's a shame she's not into it. Its always a bit of an adventure and better feel for the land, the history, everything.
And heck you have the time built in, so go for it! It will be fun.
If you're stopping in Pensacola, there used to be "Seville Quarter" sort of a Bourbon St - New Orleans tyoe setup. At the NAS there's a museum of Navy planes, and the NPS runs Fort Baracass(sp?) & some other pre-civil defense posts. It was in the same position as Ft Sumpter when the hot heads decided to take over US facilities. IIRC it did resupplied and did not fall.
As much as i want to, i need to sell some junk and replenish my car money before i buy any more pieces...
I'll get some today. You know its a good survivor when it has the complete jack and original spare.
