Stop in for a cup of coffee

Ahhh just got home 45 minutes ago. The Fury did great. As hot as it was, I still enjoyed the long drive. Where I-95 meets I-16, traffic was stopped/crawling due to an accident. I put it in neutral and kept the revs up, but once the gauge got to the top of the normal range, I pulled over, shut it down, and opened the hood. After about an hour (I guess, my phone came apart due to the heat and it doesn't work!) traffic was moving well, we were on our way again and the gauge stayed on the cool side of normal like it usually does. Not much rain, it was not heavy...hardly any debris around...when I got home and opened my freezer, I had an ice cube avalanche!

The model year starts in June of the preceding year... A 12-11-68 date would be a mid-year production 69 model... In Dec of 68 they were making 69 model year cars....
That works with the engine number. I'm guessing now the L was probably an E. After 340 there may be an R or P and then 2750 0156, making it a '69.
I'll have to go look for the VIN on the pan rail or the bellhousing rail.

That's great ! I'm a recalling correctly that you're a bit south of Charleston?
Does the car has AM or AM/FM radio ? (if I can pull in a news station, that's my typical way to find out the time. Of course with AM sometimes its a different time zone!

Yes I am 45 minutes south of Charleston. The Fury has a AM radio but the grandson of the original owner messed with the wiring because he wanted to put something modern so I don't have any tunes. I don't mind. I took the 8-track player out since nothing was hooked up.

Even went thru one town in south Alabama that had just one gas station, cash only

Horseshoe Bend is somewhere thereabouts. Another NPS site. Andrew Jackson led the US troops and drove the Red Creeks from their earthworks and into the river.

Started reworking my planishing hammer. Replacing anvil with threaded base,so i can lock it in and use various shapes to experiment with rolling over sheet metal to form inner wheel well lip.
Hope it works as planned, otherwise im making a bunch of pieces to finish inner wheel wells.
And want to try the shear on the bead roller tomorrow.

Might be easy to hook up again. Letme rephrase that, Might be simple to reattach the wires. Nothing behind the dash is every easy!

That's pretty cool TJ. Good luck with it.

I'm getting old. Man, when I was 16, I'd drive up to 19 hours between stopping for rest. Made Denver Co in 15 hours and change,(GPS puts it at 18.5 driving time) Now I'm stopping after barely 7.

I don't see how Tim does it. Man flies or something. Maybe it's easier without the wife and kids wearing on ya.

Glad to see you were able to get out safely.
Yeah cut the trip a day and a half early. But it's worth it. No rain in the forecast anywhere between here and home. Gonna leave at sunrise. Should be home before Lunch tomorrow.

Saturday night pizza. Extra cheese and half sweet Italian sausage. Something for everyone in the family...
