First of all I want to apologize for mild language that eventually might find appearance in this post. If this forum doesn't tolerate posts like that, please let me know.

I live in Europe (Switzerland) where almost everything is peaceful and quiet. So one day I stumbled on some street takeover videos on certain social media. I have seen many of those videos (sadly) and the only thing that makes me wonder is how f*cking stupidly retarted some people can be. What is the appeal to trash a car for the amusement of others?? Ah yes, I forgot, these cars are stolen cars. Now imagine you take care of your car, service it as it should be, pay a **** ton of cash for it and then some f*cking stupid as*holes steal it just to trash it. It even makes me furious just writing down these words. They just drift it into poles or sidewalks and if the car doesn't run anymore, they just ******* burn it down nobody cares.

I've read about a wife and her husband in her MR2. They came to an intersection in Tolland, got blocked off and the MR2 got completely destroyed. Not a single body panel was intact afterwards. I would be devastated! But those idiots don't care about things like moral or respect.
Mob Destroys Toyota MR2 Spyder After Owner Accidentally Drives Through Street Takeover

Seriously, what the f*ck is wrong over there in the states? Is this kind of event often seen? How do you US-Americans deal with this stuff? Or is this sh*t just pushed on social media and it isn't actually a big deal?

Everyone who thinks takeovers are cool should rethink their morals. Everybody that supports those **** events should get their penises sliced off and everyone that participates (drive the cars) on these events should be found with attempted murder (because of the stupid blokes that stand there thinking it is a briliant idea to be there) and go to jail for at least 15 years. That's how to make your roads safer, Johnny John McBiden.

I apologize to all the people who had to read my rant (no sorry to the takeover people, just go f*ck yourself).
And the most important thing: DON'T CALL THESE PEOPLE "CAR ENTHUSIASTS"! THEY ARE CRIMINALS! WE CAR GUYS DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM!

The couple should have run over everyone in their way to get to safety... But this is CT, criminals have more rights than law abiding citizens. They would have been arrested

Cleveland Ohio cut up the intersection so it wouldn’t be as easy for them to do donuts. They did arrest individuals from Columbus. It’s insane.

Not here. We live like you should. And it is also No permit concealed carry too.

No, it's not fake news. All the big cities that have been changed over the years have issues. Being from the Detroit aera I can tell you a whole lot of **** goes down that's not even reported on the news. And they steal Chargers and Challengers like crazy. They even go to the Chrysler (or whatever it is today) plants and steal 5 or 6 Hellcats at a time. Now the hellcat pickups are going fast too. A year or 2 ago a few street racers were racing and some Fing asshoe started doing donuts, I believe it was a stolen charger at the top end and swung the *** end out and the racer hit him. DEAD. Carjacking is normal here also. Thank goodness this is a carry state.

You need to be complaining to your local Mayors and police force,

You need to be bringing change and accountability!

It's no forum members fault that your local government does not represent you. Change that.

I do agree that those that do this should be punished. This will end our hobby quickly!

Ya, they go after them but the bottom line is nobody gives a **** except for themselves They say I'm doing good and just live a good life until someone runs into their family then they cry why hasn't someone done something. Arrogantance and greed is about all that's left. Damn contractors (most but not my one friend) are the worst. One ran my wife down in Home Depot with his flat cart and didn't even stop to see if she was alright. When's the last time you seen someone even help an old person with their groceries.

Keep shutting down the race tracks and the kids just get pushed to the streets. Street racing is nothing new. Just how stupid people are, is…. I went to some “sideshows” in Oakland / San Francisco 20 years ago, and they were almost as much mayhem as they are today…

That kinda thing would never happen in this county. They'd shut that crap down so fast, it'd be like it never started. lol

I dont understand it either, in Australia there is plenty of street drags etc but none of this. Yet average American tells you how much rights they have due to having their guns. Yet get bottom dweller behaviour like this because everyone to scared to do anything due to worrying if they carrying. The cops do nothing as know they out numbered and will be turned on

That is probably because of the demographic of where you live. The public won't tolerate it and law enforcement and justice system reflect that.
Certain parts of the country are ran by people that in a roundabout way, make excuses for bad behavior and even IF there are laws in place, they don't prosecute the people that commit certain crimes. It is horribly misguided and only encourages MORE bad behavior.

I've witnessed our Sheriff, Butch Reese stand in the middle of our O'Reilly store when I worked there and say "I'll deputize every one of you in here and as many others as I need to keep law and order in Jones County". This was back when a "certain demographic" was threatening to riot pretty much everywhere in the country after the George Floyd debacle. He meant every word of it too and he can do it. He's a good old dude.

That reminds me of Joe Arpaio from Arizona.

Yeah very similar. But he doesn't have much opposition around here. Here he is at the 2023 Sheriff's association awards banquet congratulating Jackson County Georgia Sheriff Janis Mangun for her 2023 Sheriff of the year win. He doesn't look like a Sheriff, does he? He is and he's a fine friend to have. He ain't been Sheriff of this county 44 years for nuthin. lol

I may have to add Georgia to our "move to" state!!

This is what happens when a meth head steals your car and takes it out on a rainy night. Doing doughnuts in an intersection, he hit several cars sending one man to the hospital. After the telephone pole brought him to an abrupt stop, he got out and ran. Took the cops 3 more months to get him in custody even though he was out on a skipped bail at the time. Oh yeah, this was in a smaller southern community outside of city limits.

Not to pick on the Aussie or bust your chops, but I disagree.

In the places where this sort of thing happens, the local government (not necessarily the larger state government, but the local, municipal, government) is very forgiving to some people, much less so to others. Because of this, the "average" person is afraid that is s/he defends him or herself, s/he will be on the receiving end of the legal system, with no mercy shown.

It's not being afraid that the other person is armed (maybe they are, maybe not), but that taking action that would be considered legal in most places will get your life ruined by the law, because, while the cops are nowhere to be seen during this event, if you should defend yourself by running someone over or pulling out a gun, all of a sudden the cops will show up and you will be the bad guy.

I will admit that I live in the Northeast, and so my experience may be different, but where I am, none of this crap happens, and I don't know anyone who's worried about getting shot by anyone else, and I can say for certain that plenty of people carry guns, and that where I live, the crime rate is extremely low, because everyone knows that if you break into a house, and somebody's home, there's a good chance that you'll be carried out feet first. In some of the nearby small cities, however, there's crime everywhere, partly because of a preponderance of "In this house, we believe" signs, and partly because it is not clear whose side the police will be on in the event of a problem.

And, to address my Swiss friend, the OP, I personally believe that we have a real problem in this country, that we are actually falling apart as a nation. Certainly, there are plenty of smaller areas where everyone gets along fine, but as an entire country, we are having trouble staying together, agreeing on simple things, trusting each other, and trusting institutions and the government itself. I say this not as a member of any political party or an adherent to any side (because they're all nuts), but I believe that both political sides agree on this, though they may express it differently. You in Switzerland don't really have anything like this, because you have general agreement on what everybody wants and needs, and you believe that your government is working for you. This may be somewhat less true in a number of other countries, such as France, Germany, and Sweden, where there is a growing gap in perception between certain people (such as recent immigrants) and the rest of the country. In Switzerland, though, where, in order for a new person to become a citizen, his entire village has to vote on it, you have avoided all of this, and I admire you for it.

Yep it is strange how different USA is in all the parts, most counties are fairly uniform however every state almost feels like a new country.
I have been going to the usa for last ten years every year other than covid and have noticed it has gone down hill a lot. Its defiantly got very expensive in comparison to a few years ago. Also noticed a lot of people have quite negative atitude and not as patriotic as they once were

I would hunt the puke down and his family would never see him again .. It would be done quietly, but he would pay.

I keep a Ruger in the car. Had one guy walking over to the car and I pulled it out to where he could see it and he immediately turned around and went back to his street corner. The other time a guy wanted me to give him his pizza.... While I was sitting in the parking lot at the pizza place getting ready to leave on deliveries. Long story short, he realized the pizza wasn't worth it when the trigger was about halfway to business mode. Lucky for both of us, I reckon.

As far as street shows, it is not entirely an ethnicity thing. It's a stupidity/cultural thing but I've seen wealthy people get caught up in showing off at car shows and night clubs. The results are typically similar.

The things that baffle me the most are how people in cities where problems like this exist continue to vote for certain parties, even while crap like this goes on. The most recent election reflects that.

This threads about to get locked or several posts deleted. FYI.

Well, yeah. Once again, without supporting one US "side" or another, the folks on the left will say that rural people vote against their own best (economic) interests (which may or may not be true), but those very same folks vote against their own local interests as well, albeit in the opposite direction.

Everyone has gotten so hung up on their "group" (as shown in a whole bunch of attitude surveys over the years) that they are completely incapable of seeing the common good or feeling a common identity.

I am an American ("US-American" for you Canadians). I may disagree with one or another (usually both) extremes on any given issue, but I understand that we are ALL Americans, whether we agree on everything or not, and that we ALL need to work TOGETHER to make or keep our country great (again or not), and to keep it from sliding into the sh*tter, and taking all of us down there with it. That's the point of our 250-year experiment.
Whoever the President is, whether I voted for him (or her) or not, he is MY President, and these are MY Senators, Representatives, Assemblymen, etc., this is MY government, and I need to support them when I believe it's right, or oppose them civilly, with the spirit of respect for all of my fellow citizens (even the ones I think are dummies or nuts) when I believe I must.

To the extent that many (again, on both "sides") have stopped doing that, that is why we are where we are.
