I got a 1963 dart and my original stainless steel wiper blades won't come off. I would just reuse the orginals with new rubber refills but they're all bent up and when I tried the refills on they worked poorly. So I bought some new stainless tricos that look pretty good but I'm having the hardest time trying to remove the old stainless arms. Anybody have any tips? I had a 66 dart back in the 2000's that someone had installed modern black plastic arms on so I know that removing the original arms has to be possible!

Thanks for any tips.

Paul

If you are trying to remove the whole arm, unscrew the nut in the center at the wiper pivot.

i'm trying to just replace the crazy stainless-steel blades where you slide the rubber onto. Not the arms, but thanks! I guess I'm mixing the names for these things up.
Why not just put new refills in?

On my 64 Valiant the Metal part of the blade is riveted to the arm. As far as I know you either change the complete arm/blade assy or just a rubber "refill".
There used to be a "kit" that would allow you to use the 65 or later arms on the 64 earlier pivots. But I don't know if they are still available. Maybe @slantsixdan knows

That kit was the one I described and linked here. It appears to have been discontinued. I still find some listings online (such as this and this), though it'd be a cross-your-fingers-and-confirm-stock-first deal, because currently popular practice in online sales is to list every part ever made as though you can buy it, but then when you go to buy it, "Oh, sorry, that's out of stock. But here, let us interest you in [completely irrelevant part] instead!".

A lot of the Anco stuff disappeared when Trico bought them. The 41-03 is one of 'em. I run an Auto Value store, so I can assure you that particular link is outdated and no stock exists.
