suggestions for underhood coating?

Hey guys,

getting ready to finish off my scamp before paint and next up is the engine bay area, which looks real nasty considering i put on some rust bullet and it didnt go on very well...it dried kinda goopy and is a ***** to sand, so i was wondering if there are any textured protection coatins out there in an aerosol that i could spray under their in order to kind of hide the imperfections and give it a uniform look....my paint guy told me to avoid gravel guard products because they are rubberized and could catch on fire...im not running a hoodliner and i need something that will be able to withstand the heat of the engine...if you guys have any suggestions, please share them...i would prefer if the stuff is in an aerosol can

Get some black biscuit wheels, starting grinding. Rattle it flat black or paint it body color

The engine compartment is like a jewelry box.......make it look clean and nice, focuses attention on the engine
