Just installed a 742 with sure grip and 3.23 gears. Let it run for 10 minutes at approximately 40 mph per the factory manual (that is what is listed if there is noise and to change the fluid and test before disassembly...I thought it would be a good idea to get everything lubed without stress). Put it on the ground and it slips and gets a moan. Is this just the clutches or more? Looks like the clutch swap out would be a semi easy ordeal.

Thanks

Were the clutches dry when you put it in? If so, the clutches may need to soak in the diff fluid/additive for a bit. You can check the suregrip by using a torque wrench , there is an article on bigblockdart.com by steve detar that he detailed, its in the engine, drivetrain forum, march 9. I tried to link it here but dont know how.

Was always told that if there's problem with a sure grip to find a big parking lot and make a few circles clockwise and a few counter clockwise. probably won't hurt.
