suspension help needed

hi all. i am looking for any ideas on how to install this freakin long tube header in my 73 swinger. i've been trying to take the steering gear box off but for some reason the pittman arm doesnt want to come off. any ideas. thnx in advanec, mike

Use a pitman arm puller.

I didn't think you had to take anything off depending on the header I guess, but on my 73 Swinger I had to jack the motor off the mounts and tilt it towards the opposite side.
Then start the front of the head flanges straight up from underneath with the car about 2.5-3 feet off the ground.

It helps to remove the studs from the heads too. You should have plenty of room by jacking up the motor & just removing the steering box bolts. That should give you enough room without removing the pitman arm. If you still feel you have to take the box all the way off, try just separating the pitman arm from the center link.
