I have a 65 Dart. I replaced the colomn with a proper floor shift unit. I need to remount my tach. (you can see my old Autometer laying on the floor in the picture). I am looking at the Autometer classic chrome series with the short sweep and it is larger but I dont want to drill holes in the dash,,,suggestions? pictures would help. Thanks

I mounted my Autometer Classic on the column. Use large hose clamp covered with heat shrink tubing to protect the paint on the column.

Bill: this is where I placed mine, pretty much a standard location. I made a bracket to put it on the dash pad like I had back in the day but chickened out, did not want to drill a hole.

Did the same with mine back in the early '70s in my 340 Swinger. Local SoCal city police stopped me saying it impeded my forward vision. So I wired in a connector, put the unplugged tach in my glove box and got the 'fix-it' ticket signed off. Took the tach out of the glove box, hung it back up on the visor mount, plugged it in and drove off. Never got bothered again.

Black zip ties on the column.
