This is surely an old question but as a new member is new to me. I have a '66 Barracuda with a tachometer. It has been refurbished, all wiring checked and properly connected, etc. When running the tach swings all the way over to the highest reading and stays buried there. What needs to be done? Thanks.

I'm not too familiar with the factory tachs, is there a switch on the back of it maybe to switch from 6 to 8 cylinder??? Is it wired to the negative terminal on the coil???

Just thinking out loud for ya.

Turn down the idle screw..................LOL

Sorry, had to say it :banghead:

What are you running for an ignition system?

It's possible that the rebuilder calibrated it for 6 instead of V8
