Hey guys, I just ordered new EQ heads and stainless roller rockers from Magnum Mopar (thanks Evan). What are people running for a taller valve cover with the roller rockers? Most aftermarket I'm finding say stock height.

Can I just cut the baffles out of my stock 5.9 valve covers? If I get new ones I'd like to stay with the 10 bolt magnum style covers. Any help is appreciated.

Covers without baffles suck because you usually end up having to deal with the extra oil coming up through vents and PCV valves causing smoke.
I'm not saying yours will do it, just that a lot of engines that are not baffled do.

IMO a decent set of fabbed covers work great and they are not expensive.
I run the 5 bolt LA style on my magnum and they work and seal just fine even using the magnum 10 bolt rubber gaskets.
If you want 10 bolt magnum specific covers, then look for those in a fabricated style.

For those who like their OEM covers but are having clearance issues, there are metal spacers in different thicknesses available. Granted, you will have to check and see what is available for yours. I've seen several in the 5-bolt style. Summit has them as well. GL.

you can get the mopar performance valve covers for the magnum engine or what we use to on our dakota rts was to take a 2 x4 and crush the baffles in the valve covers. It made pouring an oil in a pain but you can get them to clear the rockers.

Could do like Ross (@76orangewagon) did. Take 2 sets of valve covers and cut the tops off one set and the bottoms off the other set and make a really tall set. I'll see if I can find pics

Here's one pic b4 they were coated.

The stock mag valve covers will not clear aftermarket roller rockers, I tried, they are tapered too much on the ends.
I just used some MP LA covers I had, they clear fine with 2 gaskets and do not leak with only 5 bolts.

Thanks for the replies. I've got some chrome LA valve covers that will probably work. Was just hoping to keep the stock magnums because it confused everyone at the track when trying to sneak a peak under my hood.

Grab another set cheap at the junkyard and make a taller set. In fact, next time you go to beech bend let me know and I'll GIVE you the set I took off my magnum.

Old school Edelbrock cast aluminum work, and there is room for baffles. They do still make the covers.
