My engine finally got so dirty that I had to clean it. I'm using brushes and mineral spirits, and have found that although the top layers of dirt and grease dissolve OK, there is often one last layer that is very difficult to remove without scraping or blasting. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have great results with that purple Castol degreaser and a soft bristle brush. Be sure to rinse well and keep it away from your exterior paint. I have been able to get that last layer of grime off my engine compartment paint using it too. Don't let it dry on anything before rinsing it off.
