Well... Another fantastic mopar site found! How I have missed this site I have no idea. I am here now. I run a Registry for 1970-1971 Dart GT's and GTS's. Visit at: www.7071dartgt.net. We also are now registering any 1970-1971 Dart Custom's too. Drop by and say "HEY" sometime. I have been driving andmessin' with mopars for 38 years now. Most people say I am an "Expert" on Darts. I will be the first to admit I know a lot....BUT not all! I try to help when ever possible. Talk to ya'all later. Bruce B. Founder: The 1970-1971 Dart GT Registry

I know that they made gt's after 69 ive seen a 70 and ive heard of 71's but i have never heard of 70-71 gts's I just wanted to make sure I was clear it sounds like it was a little confusing Thanks again Justin

OK... gonna give it a shot here,
In answer to all the above questions:
Dart GT's WERE made in 1970-1971 as an Option Package (A65) on 2 door Hardtop Dart Customs (NOT on Swingers as some have commented in the mopar world). The Option Package got you the Dart GT Emblems (1969 Emblems were used on the 1970 GT's and the 1971 GT's had Dart GT Emblems of a 1 year only style). No GT Emblems on the inside Doors like the 1969 (but I added them to mine). ALL had Bucket Seats (using the 1970 340 Swinger pleat pattern on the 1970's Seats AND Door Panels and standard 1971 Dart Swinger pattern on the 1971's). Few had Consoles. You got the Dart Custom "Woodgrain" Dash treatment with a DART Custom Emblem on the Glove Box door - but sadly NO Rallye Dashes! The Rear Ends and Leaf Springs came in every combo you could get with no ryme or reason it seems. You got HD Brakes - Drum or Kelsey-Hayes Disc, power or not. All came with Power Steering. You got 340 Torsion Bars on all 1970's that I have checked so far - Slant Six or 318. Front Sway Bar sometimes. You had 2 engine choices: 225 ci 1-bbl Slant Six or 318 ci 2-bbl. You could get any Transmission except 4 speed. Oh yeah: NO Hood Scoops or Tailstripe from the FACTORY, but some added by dealerships.

In 1970 Chrysler de Mexico had a GTS! It came standard with a 318 ci 4-bbl 4 speed! I have seen several of these cars IN MEXICO and would love to get one back to the USA!
No 1971 GTS's anywhere that I have found or heard of.

**sigh** Why do we always want the impossible!

In 1971 there were a handful of 340 Swingers made. The best I can tell you is to look up 1971 Dart 340 Swinger on the web - You will find the Registry for them there.

Hope this clears the air for all!
Also you can go to www.7071dartgt.net for more info.

Thanks for listening!

in 71 there were 50 Swinger 340s made all sold in Canada. Thats about all the info I have found.

I have that one saved, Thats about all the info thats available on them.

Bruce,

Great find. :toothy10: Seller says "low reserve", but I don't see a reserve at all? That interior is interesting. Low back buckets, 4 spd & console...wow.

I see you've already asked seller for the fender tag info. Hope you can speak Spanish..lol. :help: Looks like a there's a wee bit of a communication gap to overcome, but not bad.

Best of luck in capturing her and bringing her to the states.

He speaks very good English! Did you notice the fold down armrest in the back seat? He says all is original except carb and chrome stuff. Also when he had it painted their painter filled the GTS emblem holes on the quarters! He removed the hood scoops to cut down on dirt in the engine bay - this GTS is a dessert rat! He thinks he knows where a set of the original Mexican Dart Rallye wheels are too (see pics of restored orange 1970 GTS above). Oh well.... Now to see what happens.

Where would one find GTS emblems?
I have searched for a while...I have always wondered why you don't see
people cloning or tributing these cars...
I think it adds just enough to the Dart to make it look a little more agressive.

1969-1970 GT and GTS emblems are reproduced and can be had on ebay and most emblem retailers. The inside door emblems are also now available. As for 1968 GT and GTS's; No one is reproducing them that I know of and you are stuck trying to find usable used ones. Hope this helped!

A friend of mine has a 70 GT for sale. It was on ebay but didn't meet the reserve:

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120287281410&rd=1

I sent the fendertag codes to Bruce a couple of weeks ago. The car is still available. :)
