the day to day grind

So, I dropped the steering column to get the instrument cluster out of my 69 Valiant. After I re-installed the cluster, and bolted the steering column back up, I seem to have aquired a grinding noise when I turn the wheel in either direction. I dropper again and tried to tighten each bold evenly... the grind is still there. Is there something I'm missing here? Any thoughts?

manual steering is not actually impacted.

Whereas I can't help you with the grinding, got any pics of the car?
I'm working on one too....

You didn't slide the column further in when you re-installed it. did you? Just a thought...might have somebody turn the wheel for you, with the front end clear of the ground, while you look for interference.
