in all the time that Dodge has built them. The first ones were in 1989 (I bought one) and now I've had to replace a shortblock in one because it was knocking. This is only the second engine I personally have seen that has needed to be replaced.

But if you go to the Ford dealer they have trucks lined up in the back lot waiting for engines. Yet people still think those Fords are the best thing since bottled beer. I'll never understand.

Definitly a lower end knock? I have had people want to replace engines because of a knock and come to find out it was an injector knock. After a quick check of the fuel system all they needed was a rebuilt injector or two. Just asking, no insult to intelligence......

Yeah, it ran a cylinder lean and scarred up the cylinder wall really bad. They didn't take care of this truck at all, beat to crap and back in 82,000 miles.

I didn't do the diagnosis anyway, nobody else wanted the job so I took it.

Dave571 works at a small Ford Dealership in a small town in Alberta. They have had so many 6.0s on warranty they haveb't time to fix anything else.
Maybe a good business would be to get a changeover kit going to drop cummins diesels is newer Fords. yes, they keep a com'n back. Talk about brand loyalty.

oh, we replace them here at our dealership, have seen a few for low end knock. Recently have replaced a couple for fuel contamination...customers love to hear that news....they just bought a engine, unless they can get the source of the fuel to poney up some dough. I will go in the recordbook as stating we dont replace near as many as FOrd or CHevy.

They are great engines 12 valve or 24 valve.
