That is kinda common, the misfit.

It is usually best to set the engine on the mounts loose, settle it squarely with a pry bar, and evenly tighten the bolts.

Hey 63Dartman, Torque strap? I assume It's the same as in the 70's they would use a piece of chain from corner of block to k frame? Where do you get a torque strap? If I get it fixed again I'll give it back to "ABodyBetty" to drive, my foot is too heavy I guess! Thanks Again!!!!!!!!
 
Back when my 1970 318 Dart was on the road,I swapped a mild elgin cam in and later I bolted down a 360 4bbl intake and carter afb with an adaptor plate.The car had a stock single exhaust and otherwise stock driverain. I took it for a spin and the power compared to the 5.0 mustang 5 speed i had previously owned blew me away. That thing would have eaten my Mustang..

I never could get that AFB to idle right ( even with a rebuild)and ended up going back to the stock 2bbl which was all I could afford at the time.

I did almost the exact same thing with my 318 (Lunati cam, 360 intake, ThermoQuad) and it pulls OK but I can't use the secondaries yet because they're so hard to tune. Once I get those secondaries working right it should get me up to 120 pretty quick (heh heh...).

My 318 has very low comp,8.0.1 around there.
It wiped a lobe an dont know what sort of stick it had in it
but it had something alright. replaced it with one with 474 lift
an it went backwards,still went ok but not as hard as it did.
Its got an offy manifold,shithouse 2 inch exhaust system,some sort
of aftermarkets headers,650 holley double pumper,holly red fuel
pump an untouched heads.
My car weighs 1480 kg,3.23 lsd in the rear,its manual an she
goes 14.5 on the quarter at 93 mph.

Cant complain really,been like that for 5 years,
doesnt have a rev limiter an GOD knows how many times
ive over buzzed her.

than any car my freinds have had,an have spent the least
on it on maintance an been trouble free.

If they only made a 318 diesel,you couldnt kill it i rekon an
it would never neeed a rebuild lol.

They certainly are anvil like in thier ability to endure punishment.I have yet to kill one.

Diesel 318 would have been a bad idea.I think G.M failed miserably with thier attempt to convert a small block to diesel.
 
Yeh i tottaly agree,
I was rowing through the gears flat out
(as you do)
Shiftlight comes up,go to 3rd,
Mind you im at 5500 rpm ( not much i know but it
is for that) an the throttle cable snaps as i change
gear an get on the gas.
What rpm she spun too god knows,wish i had a recall
on the tach.
Wouldve made days of thunder proud lol
