I have lot's of A body parts and lots of engine parts, but I only sell locally because I don't have a paypal account or the like, I'm still just too old school I guess. I mostly only buy stuff I can see in person, I've drove as far as 800 miles one way. I wish things were better and more trust worthy.
 
Well would you look at that. That's pretty slick. Didn't have a clue. Usually beat on 'em with a hammer and punch, LOL. Thanks for the schoolin'.
 
whoever paid 300 bucks for that is an idiot. I have half a dozen different tools that will do the same job for free
 
I'm a bit confused by the tool. Is this for the roll pin at the steering box?
 
To take the locking wheel off the shaft at the top above the turn signal switch. Though it may work for that pin also.
 
I bid $32 on a non-operational Realistic (Radio shack) 3-head cassette deck. No bids and 4 hours left, sure what the heck. It sold for $78. WTH? I like to play it this way: Bid once, as much as your willing to pay for it. If it goes higher, walk away. Sure it will sell for 2 bucks more than your high bid but its probably the guy just not wanting to let it go for some unseen minimum value he thinks its worth. Shopgoodwill.com pulls some weird minimum bid BS too, The stuff is F'n given to them!

It would depend on the diameter of the hole in the tool, but you might be able to alter it. Main problem is the limited travel of the bolt.

You do realize that there is cheap software that is often is used, that allows them to enter a bid with a cap on it..or even unlimited cap and can be done to literally hundreds of auctions all at once.
The software monitors the auctions and places repeated bids up to the pre-determined cap. This is very different than the ebay bid submission process.
So, if a person wants an item really bad, and the listing ends next week when they are not around, are in bed because it ends at 3:15am or or what have you, the software will keep bidding for them, or simply snipe it near the end out of nowhere.
So, person enters a super high price cap, thinking no one will pay that cap amount and is then assured the win.
If you get several people using similar software, it will climb the price up well beyond the actual value of the item, to whatever cap is highest, often in the last few minutes.

People also will often bid up an item that they never intend to buy, to either screw the seller or to screw other buyers/bidders up / deny them the win/item.

Ebay & paypal has very specific software that guards against shill bidding.
If it detects a pattern in the sellers "winning" bidders & thier accounts, all associated accounts go to review and can be terminated if found to be shilling.
The days of having a second or third ebay account that sellers used to bid on their own stuff, or having friends do it, is pretty much over.

Sometimes something sells for way more than you think its worth, legitimately. Its just the way it is...maybe the winning bidder has been looking for it for years and will be damned if he doesnt get it now at all cost.
 
I used Esnipe years ago. Ebay did something to the bid procedure where there was an extra dialog box that popped up after you put a bid in like, "confirm $32 bid?" and that screwed up the old Esnipe process. Been years, they probably fixed that. Liek I said, if you want it, bid the highest your willing to pay and walk away. If you get it,great. If not, move on.

Well that’s just silly, of course you can know.

If it didn’t actually sell, it will be re-listed. No point in doing any of that stuff if it doesn’t sell eventually. After all, what’s the point if the seller never gets any money?
 
If you want something on eBay, you don't start bidding like a moron the moment you see it. You wait until just before the end of the auction, see if the price is still in your range and place the bid you think it's worth to you.
 
I agree. I use EZSniper and put in my maximum bid and walk away. I get an email that lets me know if I won. If not, oh well, I should have bid higher.

You CAN get a pretty good idea of what something is worth by looking at SOLD items on eBay and comparing prices. They are usually pretty consistent. If you see something that ended higher, it might have been shill bid but look at the other ten examples and average their price.

In the auction above, it looks like there were two bidders going back and forth at the end and with six seconds left, a third bidder used a sniper app to place his bid and win the auction. Completely legal and if it was his buddy driving the price up, eBay is still gonna charge the seller for their percentage of the final sale price whether he collects the money or not.
 
Roy did you look at the much cheaper tool I sent you the link to? Looked to me like it would do the same job.
 
I don't really know what the OP expected. That's still something like 10% of the original price of the tool.

Same goes for me . You want my parts it's a postal money order or cold hard cash and I would much rather sell in person .I will ship but will never take pay pal and don't sell on ebay. Time to get the corporations and their greed out of our deals
