Upon returning from a family funeral in PA today, I learned that a friend of mine from my car club was involved in a serious accident with his '71 Dart.

He has 3rd degree burns over much of his body, a broken back and a collapsed lung. He was rear-ended by a semi going much faster than he was while taking his car to storage. He is in the hospital in Cleveland in an induced Coma because of the pain from the burns.

Thank goodness some truckers with fire extinguishers and some nursing students were nearby to help him until rescue workers arrived, or he may not even be with us any more.

This is not turning out to be the best Christmas I have ever had. I will update when he improves.

Dude that sucks. Sorry to hear about your friend. It's amazing how fast something terrible can happen, I see it every day. I'll be hoping for the best. :pale: :sunny:

Amy & me send our prayers to your friend. I hope he fully recovers. Our condolences to your family's loss also.

this is not being a good season. a good friend of mine that has 5 mopars lost his son in a freak accident on monday. he worked for waste management (garbage company) and him and his fellow employee stopped in a parking lot at a bagel place and when he was getting out of the truck he slipped and was run over by another truck parking in the space next to theres. he died instantly.the guy who was driving the truck parked got out and told the his partner " your guy just fell over there" so the guy went over and he just went hysterical. the truck crushed his skull.........just like onehellofadart said "its amazing what can happen in the blink of a n eye".....................they had the wake on wednesday (closed casket) and the funeral yesterday. in the funneral pressesion they had their 71 cuda following right behind the hearse......this was his sons favorite car......he was 24 years old........it hasnt been easy on his father (bob) my friend either, he is 53 years old and he has not had anything to eat since monday, and he stays crawled up in a ball in bed........since i have a son now... i could never imagine (and dont want to ever have to)going through that......luckly the gbegining of a new year is not far away.......i hope every one here has a safe and better new year....Rory
