Found a "thing" in a thrift today, that turned out to be GOLD for 4.99. Turns out it's called a "sofia and sam" It's a very firm "memory foam" pillow with a hard top that you set you laptop onto. Some have a side shelf for mouse, etc, and or a gooseneck lamp. Mine does not, but that is fine. DAMN this thing works GREAT

My laptops are all somewhat old and the same basic pattern---Lenovo T 510/ 520, or W520/ W530, they have big screens and not particularly light. I stay with them for the somewhat parts interchange and the "swap bay" that allows either a DVD or extra HDD in the swap bay. You can actually have THREE hdds in them---a mini "mSATA" card under the keyboard in a cellular slot, a standard laptop HDD in the "main" cavity, and the third in the swap bay. These are all buss connected, not USB or something, so they are quite fast compared to an external drive.

This W530 I just bought only paid 135 bux on egag.
