Hello, the throttle cable on my 70 dart .318 magnum with eddelbrock 4bbl carb/intake is frayed and will very soon no longer be functional, Im trying to figure out what throttle cable i need, any advice on how to tell what i need to get it replaced with a proper one?

If you can't get one from the members on here mancini has them. Do not use classic industries cables mine broke instantly.

We've seen a couple of threads about the aftermarkets metal sheathe cables shorted to wiring. One pretty bad fire resulted. Bulkhead connection is just too close for comfort in a-body.

I bought a black sheathed Lokar cable from Summit because of fraying. It was like stepping on soft butter once it was replaced. I think it was a 24" cable?

I wouldn't drive it until you replace it!
Thankfully when mine jammed the throttle open, it was in the garage with then engine off.

I'm happy with the Lokar replacement, but you will need the bracket as well.

I see many cables tear due to not having the mopar bracket on the linkage arm on new holley's and Edelbrock's. They cannot be uses out of the box without the purchase of the offset bracket. This bracket Makes the peddle travel and Carb linkage travel the same distance

With out the bracket the Linkage on the Carb will bottom out before the peddle . Ruining the carb and the cable

4bbl cables are the shortest sheaths. next is the 2bbl, And then the slant 6. Depending on the height of your intake. pick accordingly. They all have the same travel. It just how far you need to reach that determines the length you need.

In the pic below you will see I made my own bracket to hold the cable which was much higher due to the height of the intake. This was made using a big block bracket and adding a piece from another bracket . I used a 318 2bbl cable. Note the linkage piece added to the carb. This is a must on all new carbs as stated above. Summit carries them for all carbs. Nothing works better than a good original Mopar cable. All others are junk. In my years of working on these cars I have never seen a cable better than original.

You can get many different lengths off other style mopars including trucks

So the length doesnt actually matter because the amount of travel is the same regardless?

Yes that is correct. The only thing the length does is reach the cable bracket. The bracket that bolts on the carb is what corrects the geometry to the peddle fulcrum. Without that bracket on the carb you will keep on breaking cables

I used the same geometry to hook up this blower with factory throttle pressure for towing. If you look close you can see the throttle pressure arm running back aside of the blower. I Never had anything on the trailer were I couldn't keep them spinning going into second.

that was me I am very anal about it now, seen a few of them.

Wow, you look NOTHING like I pictured
That's the Boss. I talked her into redoing the truck with a cummins. I told her the extra weight would drop it down some and she would be able to get in . So we changed the truck to a Common rail Diesel. The pic below is the same truck as above after done.

How much lift did you have on the truck?
And do you have a better picture of the throttle cable set up on the blower?

3 inch body lift. the springs are w350 the rear spring mounts were moved down on the frame 2" the fronts had 2 inches under the front shackle mounts and 2" longer shackles. The suspension was all stock but for a drop pitman arm.

Here is what the new owner did to the truck that I built. And he is taking all credit for the complete build.
