I have a 1972 Plymouth valiant with a 318 in it. What type of muffler would you recommend? I am looking for a loud one. Do headers make it louder or can I do without them.

I put on a pair of Dynomax Super Turbos on a stock dual system with manifolds on a stock 318. Nice sound. Poor video.

This video might help too.

My manifolds are originals. The previous owner split the Y pipe and fashioned duals. He used original 340 tips.

glass pack "header mufflers" right off the collector. Now that is loud.

I had drag race mufflers on mine at first - so loud the car failed state inspection - again, it really depends on just how loud you really want it

And hang straight pipes under the axle all the way to past the bumper, the bigger the better; you will have cannons!
too funny! I now have - headers, 2' of 3" pipe, Warlock mufflers, 3' of 3" resonator that go under the axle, 2 elbows and out da bck - - it's muffled some - but it rumbles!
