Old school build here.
.030 340 with TRW dome pistons.
Mild solid roller 575 lift 308 duration
W2 econo heads open chamber
I'm running it @ 35 degrees.
Any one run it lower or higher?

Yes, but none of them may apply to your motor so it really doesn't matter what others run.
Run it where it likes it.

Usually a performance small block 340 has a total mechanical advance that should occur some where in the 2500-3000 rpm range and it should be around 35 Degrees. More agressive cams typically require more initial advance. Try it from there and see what works best in smaller increments.

It depend on your combo for sure! with open chamber heads, i would start at 34 but, bet your in the 36 Degrees total before your done. start at 34 and test your way up. Closed chamber head are more efficient and would probably like 34 degrees better.
Your dome piston "kind" make them open chambers into closed. The flame kernel has to fight the dome were a flat top, closed chamber does not!
If you're going to drag race it. start at 34 degrees and keep an eye on you mph And your spark plug(checking for black spot on your ceramic) for detonation.

if your gonna drag race it ? LOL, this guy is a well known dragracer around here that has been pretty darn successful, his son is too, I might add. think he may just be messin w/ u guys !

No matter how good bad or indifferent, It's alway good to get another opinion.
May get you thinking down a different line of thought..............At least that's how i think.

Thanks for the replies.
Most of my combos are closed chamber/flat top piston.
This is kind of an old school combo.
I ended up @ 36 degrees.
Ran it in my Barracuda, went 10.90 @ 120.48 with a 750 alky carb.
Ran 11.16 @ 118 with a gas 750 carb.
It's a .030 340 with L2322 pistons, stock crank & rods.
Econo W2 heads with a small Comp solid roller, 575 lift & 308 dur.
I think it would have ran quicker in my Demon, the convertor is on the tight side. It was built for my 414.
Also, pulling 14X 32 tires & only a 4.56 gear.
No matter how long you do something, it doesn't hurt to bounce ideas around.

Given the open chambers and dome, I'd say it will want more advance than the typical closed chamber/flat top deals. I'd be looking at 36-38° so I'd say you're good, maybe have a little more depending on the weather.
