I thought I had it all figured out but I guess not. I have a set of 14 inch SBP rallye wheels on tires. They are about 6 1/2" total width so 5 1/2 or 6" I guess. The fronts wheels have newer BF Goodrich TA 215/70 tires and the back are 235/60 (backs are old but I have new ones I bought without thinking). I'm looking at the bulge on the rear tires and they really are too wide for the wheels...back to the drawing board. No one around here can widen the wheels and 14x7 SBP wheels seem to be out of stock everywhere or perhaps they are NLA now. I was thinking of buying 2 more 215/70 for the back for a square set-up or perhaps putting the 215/70 on the back and 205/70? on the front (limited selection in BF Goodrich TA sizes). I'm not sure what an appropriate set-up would be. Its a street car and I am mostly going for a stockish look. What do you all think?

Me? I'd change to 15s, all the way around.
But... in your situation, I'd put the 215s on the back, and get 205s for the front. 70s if they aren't too tall.
I don't think new 14 inch wheels are available anywhere, and the 14 inch tires are drying up too.
(Tire size.com says a 235/60 should be on a 6.5-8.5 rim).

Stock rally's should be 5.5". Yep, a little too narrow for a 235-60. I switched my rears to 15x7 and a 255-60/15. That's about the limit for that 7" rim but it works. The rear is raised with modified springs but no rubbing.

Are you sure you want to get the BFGTA tire? Not anything great, except the price.

The beauty of this is you can put both 215/70's on one side of the car and see how you like it.

Do they fit the front without rubbing?

They will be fine and I already have 2 good tires. There is little choice for white lettered tires. I’ll have to look into max front tire size. It’s got 195/65 on it now on old cragars.

That means new wheels, tires, axles, brakes, spindles, etc.
True, at least partially. New wheels and tires, for sure. 15x6s are available for 5 on 4. I agree, selection for 5 on 4 is awful, but I still would NOT change brakes axles etc. I'd just get 15" 5 on 4 wheels
(I can say that..... cause I have three pairs of 5 on 4 centerlines)
And yep, I just bought four new wheels and trailer tires for mine. Not cheap.
But I said what EYE would do. If I were in your place....... 205 70s on the front, 215s on the back... DONE!

If you want white letters...... Cooper cobras over t/a's 1000%. (Depending of course on if the size you want even exists)

Ok I put the 215/70s on front and back. They look good on the front but pretty skinny on the back after looking at the 235/60s for a couple of years. I'll have to get used to it and I am going for a stock like look.

ps the door is getting wet sanded :)

You can get wheels widened in Saskatoon and Vancouver, a quick google will tell you their names. 205/70/14 on the front and a good fit.

It's all in your back spacing you can run it 245 on a 7-in rim easy. Yes you'll have to do some research but the rims are available. I would get away from 14 inch they're just too small of a selection.

When I got my '71 Dart GT it had:
14" X 5 1/2" factory Rallye wheels with P215/70R14s front and P225/70R14s rear

Currently I have:
14" X 5 1/2" factory Rallye with P195/75R14s front
15" X 7" (4 1/4" backspace) WheelVintiques Rallye with P245/60R15s rear (I have room for P255/60R15s (next time))

I have a 70:dart I need to fit wheels on yet and i have 10” total clearance between rub points. Outside is 4-1/2” , inside 5-1/2”. This leaves me to think 8” max tire width without modifying the wheel well. I also have thoughts about 17” rims to minimize tire sway over rubbing concerns. Can I ask what your looking at as acceptable clearance?
Thanks, I enjoyed reading the discussions within this thread
