I picked this Dart up a couple months ago, it has some 195/75/R14s. I want to replace them with some BFG Radial T/As.

I don't really like the fat rear, skinny front look. Rather more fat both, but just lower in the front. I don't need it super high in back, just a little to give it a more muscular look since at this point it looks like grandpa's car.

So I'm wondering if anyone has similar, and any pics and sizes so I could compare looks. Thanks.

i have the same type of thing going on. my car was actually my grandpas car and the stock tires were 195's but i am putting 245's in the rear and 205's up front. I don't know how big you can go up front without limiting your turn radius...

Me either, I've read a lot of opinions here and on different sites, most say 215, some say 225.

Go for either a 215 or 225/70-14
Should look nice !!!!!!!!

See if the tire store will let you put one side on to see.

Yeah we've been going to this Big-O here for years, I think they'll test fit some for me.

How wide are your rims?

I wouldnt go bigger than a 215 on a 5 1/2" rim.

235-45-17 up front--no clearance problem.
245-45-18 out back.

This is my car with 235/60-14's all the way around.

This is it with 255/60-15's on the back and 225/60-15's on the front. I have since changed the fronts to 215/60-15s becuase the tire would touch the fender when the wheel was turned in.

Wow, I like those wheels on your ride. What are they? I have a 68 Dodge Dart, with 14 inch rims, 5X4 bolt pattern. I bought four 15 inch Coker Redlines and was looking for some good looking 15 inch rims to fit 5X4 bolt pattern. The front has disc and the rear has drums. Help...

Hey Dave , are those 15 x 7 and 15 x 8 small bolt ralley wheels on your green Cuda ??? I kinda wonder about 15 x 7 on the front of and A-body , gotta watch the tire size. I bet if you could have a 15 x 6.5 on the front , that would probably help the problem.

Rims are stock 14 inch, 5 on 4.5 pattern on a 1974 Dart Swinger. Replaced junk rubber with 205 X 70-14 on the front and 225 X 70-14 on the rear. Could have gone bigger on the rear but wasn't sure at the time. Car will be a daily driver once my son turns 16.

I meant to post this earlier. It gives you an idea of the rake with the tires useing rear air shocks with 65-70 lbs of air in them.

Why not? I got 235's on my Dart. And my Demon had 245's on a 5.5 rim.
People do it all the time.

Well you see there is something called manufactor recommendation.

They reccomend a 7"-8.5" rim for a 245.

I like to think they know what they are talking about.

I had 245 60 14's on a 6" rim and I thought that was not wide enough of a rim, looked good tho

Just an update, finally got some Indy 500s 215/75/14 RWL all around, next day from tirerack $74.00 then a local place put them on yesterday for $12.50 each. I'll post some pics later...

I got one with some of the letters not completely painted white after the blue was removed, it wasn't scuff or anything, just a bad job. I got a Krylon white paint pen and fixed it.

Anyone ever had that problem from tirerack? I wonder if I should have just sent it back.

The largest from the factory was a E70-14 which is close to a 205-70-14. If you want the same size front and rear the biggest I would go is a 215-70-14. I have 215-70-14s up front and 225-70-14s on the back. If I go to a 15 on the back I would go with a 225-70-15.

Oops I meant 215/70/14s all the way around, had 195/75/14s when I got it. Maybe later I'll try larger on the back.

Hi, What backspacing are you running on those rims? I'm in the process of converting my 69 Swinger 340 to 4.5 bolt spacing and I am trying (like all of us I'm sure) to fit the biggest rubber front and rear (without mods) without rubbing issues. Any help would be appreciated.

On my 68 Barracuda, the fronts are 235/60-14s on 7.5s and IIRC 3.75 bs.
No problems. same 235s will fit on the back.
I think tho that a few guys run up to 255s with a stock rearend.

This is an older thread but I have 205/65/16’s on my dart. I like the wheels but the tires are mismatched. I do get some rubbing on a tight turn like say if I’m backing up and crank all the way or sharp turn in the driveway. I don’t usually do this but I did test it out. Otherwise it’s not an issue. I’d like a little wider and lower profile but much bc in my opinion the tires on there look a little balooney to me. So I’m wondering what is a good width and height for these? The rim is 6.0 I believe. I know I need to know that but let’s go with 5.5 to be safe and maybe if anyone has recommendations for either and I’ll get it measured for sure. Thanks!!
