I know I'm doing this a little backwards but I didn't have much choice. I was driving my '65 Barracuda home when my brakes failed. Now it's parked and I'm installing front disc brakes a la Scarebird. I need/want Rallye wheels and Wheel Vintiques sells Rallye wheels in the 15x6 size.

I've measured my stock steel wheel/tire diameter to be 26.1". I want to keep the same diameter combo for the 15" wheels. The question is: what size of tire can I mount on these rims without interfering with either my speedo or risking rubbing the tires on any internals?

Does anyone have 15" Rallyes on their early A-body? Any glamor shots?

Off the top of my head I think that a 235/60-15 will have the same rolling height. My 245's measure in at 26.6", and my 225's are 25.6". BFG Radial T/A's.

235 cross section is about as wide as you can go on a 6" rim. My car had 235/60-14's on it and the Goodyear web page listed the minimum rim width as 6".

Splendid. Thanks for the info. My worry is that if I buy something too wide it will rub the fender when I turn the wheel all the way in one direction or the other.

Thanks.

I have 215/65-15 on the front of my Duster and they are 26" in diameter. They have a 6.5" tread width and a 8.5" section width.
