I installed the recovery tank this afternoon and I straightened out some loose connections on my NEW Year 1 dash harness...... Here's a fast how-to on my installation:

I found the spot next to the passenger side radiator to be the obvious choice since the overflow nipple is aimed that way, but the lower horn has to be moved. I'm going to modify the horn bracket slightly and use the lower fender to radiator support bolt.

From the bottom you can see the two fittings. The one that is the short pipe inside the tank, it gets connected to the overflow nipple under the cap. The other line that extends all the way up into the tube is the vent.

The lines on the tank are 5/16" while the radiator nipple is 3/8". My solution was to apply 2 sections of heat shrink tubing to snug the line 3/8" hose on the 5/16" nipple. This will work only because it's not a sealed, high-pressure situation. The shrink tubing will shim it up just enough that you don't have to crimp the hell outta those little screw clamps....

Then I took a section of left over 3/8" aluminum fuel line and made a short drain tube. I lucked out and had a plastic hole plug the exact size of the factory punched hole. I drilled a hole for the drain line and snapped this together in about 10 minutes. It was an extremely satisfying feeling to just find a solution that were aesthetically appealing.

I found my coolant hoses. They were a brand new set I "put away". It only took me and hour to find the damn things! Now my ignition switch is MIA....

<sigh....> There's always tomorrow..... :-D

looks good john! all the little details add up.

I had NEVER given my radiator support a second thought as to how nice it looked from the bottom. Now that I did that slick little drain tube I suddenly realize the paint looks like **** from that angle.

You can go nuts chasing that chain reaction!

I've been going crazy chasing paint gremlins for some time now. It's never good enough. LOL....you're getting closer though
