I've got my 340 almost ready to go. The remaining bit and pieces in the box do not contain anything that looks to me like a coil bracket or brace, so here goes.........what does a smallblock coil bracket look like? and where does it mount? I figure it's gotta be near the distributor somewhere, I could sure use some help:dontknow:

there are 2 drilled holes in the intake back by the distributor, one is higher up than the other.

the ones i have seen are round with a tighting screw on the bottom side. then there are two flanges that come out on both sides. kinda like this _0_

Ok thanks, so is there a bracket that mounts into those two holes and then that strap holds the coil to the bracket or, does the strap that jaxle described bolt right into those holes? I replaced a Torker II with an LD340.

you dont need that thing.
that shape i tried to make is a one piece deal. like a bent up strap and the coil goes in the hole then bolts right to the intake. on the passenger side between the distributor and carb.

Thanks jaxle. I know what you mean now, I'll keep an eye out for one.:thumrigh:

Here are a couple of pics that might help you out:

Assuming this a small block ? the legs on the bracket are offset, one is taller than the other. BTW your local bone yard probably has some sitting on top of a motor in either a p/u or a van from the late 80's early 90's. Thats where I got mine !

I also have a 340, and the coil bracket I have has both legs the same length. Maybe it's from a B/RB motor?
Where can I pick up the correct coil bracket for a 340?

Hey--

I just bought an NOS 340 coil bracket from eBay. The guy has 20 available. Do a search for "340 coil", and it'll turn up.

That eBay guy is still there, but the bone yard came through for me. Found my bracket on a 78' van with a small block. $2 bucks, right in my price range:thumrigh: Thanks for the help.
