this is the 3rd pass when it let go

Ouch! That sounded bad. Looked good on the 1st and 2nd pass though. A good reminder why I took the 4spd out of mine. your car looks great. Do you know what let go in the trans yet ?

Dang, That sucks! You need a Liberty or a Lenco with all that Hp and torque. LOL Mike
 
Anybody that can build a low 10 sec car has my vote, I guess you have to lose a little here and there.
 
What trans did you break...I'm assuming it's a Hemi box.

Still sucks...BUT as said above...ANYONE who build s a low 10 sec stick shift car has my respect.
 
weren't you running the solf-lok so you wouldn't break the trans?

remember we were talking about Race hemis and 4 speeds awhile back!

im sorry for your loss lol whats going back in it?

Just a couple of thoughts for you 4-speed guys.
1-I didn't see you bumping into the lights off your roll control.
2-If you launch off a 2 step rev limiter you can control wheel speed a little closer.
3-Shift light keeps your eyes down track.

Hope there's not much damage to your car.

yep, its got a Hyatt built soft lock. the clutch was working great. i was just starting to get it dialed in. think im just gonna put my stock hemi box in it for now so i can drive it around. i'll get a new game plan together this winter.

guess i never thought about bumping the lights off the line lock, that would have made things a little easier. i have a 2 step for it, just didn't have time to put it on.

didn't seem to hurt the car, although the tell tail sitting on 7800 didn't really thrill me much...
 
Ouch.

Well, at least the clutch didn't explode and carnage was semi low.

I felt the pucker factor just watching.

wasn't a miss shift, it was in. i wasn't sure what the hell happened, so i pulled it out then tried to put it back into gear. the face plate lug looks real good yet. had the base down to 1120#.
 
That's not a stock trans. He has 3-4 face plated and 1-2 is pro shifted so my guess is liberty? has put some mods to it. That's the best you can do with a 833. Are you using an aluminum or iron case. When you start pouring the coal to the stock cases there is no 2-3 bearing support like a g force or jerico so case deflection and tooth contact area are diminished. The fact it broke in 2 leads away from a clutch issue and Tim is great and probably has you darn close.
An iron case might buy you some time, Passon cases are no help and break as quick as factory aluminum. I have also mikronited and cryo'd every part inside to buy some time but nothing can make up for 30/40 years of technology and better materials.
I love my g force, couldn't stomach breaking more hemi boxes. Jericos and stuff come up often on racing junk and eBay, just keep the eyes open.

looking at the pics reminded me of the first run we did with the Norms car... it sheared all the 2nd gear teeth off the countershaft...

ended up being a weak gear...

even with the pro-shifted 833 with the power we can make with roller cams it is just to much for a 833 to last a long time...
 
Got to give you a lot of credit, if that was my car you would have herd a a lot of
cussing on the video.

I also used to race with my 4 speed car and got to nervous about breakage,so built an auto car.I,d say your be$t bet is to go Lenko if you want to race with a 4 speed.JMO.good luck.

it is a iron case, Libertys told me i would probably be on borrowed time as heavy as the car is. i had the gears cryo'd a few months back. DR4-4 is on my future wish list. think i'll just go back to cruising it around on the street for now. lol
 
I understand you didn't miss the shift in the video, I'm wondering you missed one in the past....That would've started the weaking of the gear.

My hat is off to you...I race a stick aswell, and if it easy EVERYONE would be running one!.

Your trans looks brand new inside and i think something else is going on.....weak metal in the gear of flexing.

I sold my Hemi stuff and moved on to a Lenco...Better selection of ratios and it's "new", not 40 yrs old....but that was my choice.

I'm at 850 lbs of base w/ 9 grams of c/w...not that in means much now. i was just wondering.

OUCH...

Run 7.50X13 tires on it, you'll never break any driveline componets.

That thing is almost as quick as my Honda CBR 1100XX.

I get better mileage but you have a neater vehicle!
 
A friend of mine runs a clutchless 5 speed in his old Camaro. It has been flawlless. Leave the line with the clutch and shift away. Although he doesn't have the brute HP and torque that you do. I'm sure Passion Perf. can help.
